Recommended Internal Skill Builds

Balanced Build: Basic Breathing + Iron Skin + Clear Mind: solid all-rounder for new players

Qi Mage Build: Heaven Cycle + Thunder Core + Celestial Awareness: maximize Qi for skill spam

Berserker Build: Blood Thirst + Diamond Body + Fire Heart: high damage, high durability, high risk

Assassin Build: Shadow Step + Water Flow + Clear Mind: speed and stealth focus

Pro Tip: Internal skills gain experience the more you use them. The active internal skill in your primary slot gains XP fastest. Rotate your skills to level them evenly, or focus on one to max it quickly.

External Martial Stances (外功): 108 Stances

External stances determine your actual combat moves: the attacks, combos, and special techniques you use in battle. You can equip up to 3 stances at a time, switching between them mid-combat for varied attack patterns.

Combo System

Each stance has unique combo chains: sequences of light and heavy attacks that trigger special finishing moves. Combos are the key to dealing serious damage.

  • Basic Combo: Light → Light → Heavy: triggers a knockdown finisher
  • Advanced Combo: Light → Light → Light → Heavy + Skill: triggers a unique stance-specific finishing move
  • Qi Combo: Light → Skill → Light → Heavy: consumes Qi for a powerful enhanced finisher

Qi Management

Qi (内气) is your internal energy: the lifeblood of martial arts in The Bustling World. Mastering Qi management is the difference between a novice and a master.

Qi Generation

  • Passive Regen: Qi regenerates slowly over time. Rate depends on your active internal skill.
  • Meditation: Press 'M' (out of combat) to enter meditation. Rapidly regenerates Qi and gives bonus XP to your active internal skill.
  • Qi-Infused Attacks: Landing heavy attacks while at full Qi bonus regenerates some Qi.
  • Qi Pills: Consumable items that restore Qi instantly. Craft via Pharmacy or buy from alchemists.

Qi Expenditure

  • Special Skills (Q/E/R): 20-50 Qi per use depending on the skill
  • Parry: 15 Qi per perfect parry
  • Qi Burst (Z): 60-100 Qi for a massive AoE
  • Enhanced Combos: 30 Qi for Qi-enhanced combo finishers
Pro Tip: Never let your Qi hit zero in combat. At 0 Qi, you cannot parry or use skills, and you take 20% more damage. Keep a reserve of at least 30 Qi for emergency parries.

Qi Cultivation

To increase your maximum Qi capacity, you must cultivate. Find a quiet spot, enter meditation mode, and cycle your Qi through your meridians. Each successful cultivation session permanently increases your max Qi by 1-5 points (depending on your internal skill level). Higher-quality meditation spots (temples, bamboo groves, mountain peaks) grant bonuses to cultivation gains.

Mountain peak1.5xScenic, long trek
Bamboo grove1.5xPeaceful, common in SW region

Combat Tips & Strategies

Learn to Parry: The parry mechanic (F key) is the most powerful defensive tool in the game. A perfect parry stuns any enemy (including bosses) for 2-3 seconds, allowing you to land a full combo. Practice against training dummies until parrying is muscle memory.
Stance Diversity: Equip 3 stances with different weapon types. A common setup is Sword (balanced) + Spear (range) + Unarmed (utility). Switch between them mid-combat to keep enemies guessing.
Use the Environment: You can knock enemies into walls for extra damage, off cliffs for instant kills, or into hazards (fire, water, spikes). Area control matters in group fights.
Enemy AI Patterns: Enemies have tell animations before strong attacks. Watch for the glint — a brief flash on the weapon before a heavy or special attack. That's your cue to dodge or parry.
Group Combat: When outnumbered, use hit-and-run tactics. Dodge in, land 1-2 hits, dodge out. Don't get surrounded — crowd control stances (Staff, Unarmed) excel at creating space.
